چکیده

Farmerella exoporosa gen. et sp.nov. is described from cold-water Permian (Bernacchian-Lymingtonian) rocks of Tasmania. The new taxon is essentially homeomorphic with Glendonia McClung & Armstrong, 1978. However, Glendonia possesses a micro-ornament of low, elongate microspines behind shallow, elongate grooves, whereas Farmerella gen.nov. (as in Notospirifir Harrington, 1955) has deep, elongate and globose pits which penetrate the thickened outer primary shell layer but not the inner shell layer. This feature suggests that Notospirifir and Farmerella gen. nov. are closely related and should be assigned to a separate subfamily, the Notospiriferinae Archbold & Thomas, 1986 (emended herein), and Glendonia, Birchsella Clarke, 1987 and Kelsovia Clarke, 1990 to a separate subfamily, the Glendoniinae nov. The areal and stratigraphical distributions, and evolutionary relationships of the various genera are briefly discussed.

LATE DEVONIAN INDEX BRACHIOPODA OF NORTH-EAST ESFAHAN IN CORRELATION WITH OTHER REGIONS

Abundance and multilateral extension of prominent genus and species of Brachiopoda in the majority of sedimentation series of the Late Devonian have been observed in all parts of Iran. The variability and rapid change in this respect has made it possible to delineate different lines of orthogenetism, biozonation and present biostratigraphical models at the sub-stage level. These characteristics...

Kassinasma, a new generic replacement name for Kassinella Keller 1970 (Anthozoa: Streptelasmatida) non Borissiak 1956 (Brachiopoda: Strophomenacea).

The genus Kassinella was established by Keller (1960: 90) for extinct Lower Carboniferous (Tournaisian) corals from Kazakhstan. The name, however, is preoccupied by the senior homonym Kassinella Borissiak (1956: 50) (Brachiopoda), equally honouring N. G. Kassin, famous geologist and explorer of Kazakhstan. To resolve the homonymy, in accordance with the International Code of Zoological Nomencla...

Pseudophillipsia (Carniphillipsia) (Trilobite) from the Permian Jamal Formation, Isfahan, Iran

The aim of this study is to bridge a gap in the existence of Trilobites in the marine Permian successions of Iran by exploring a stratigraphic section of the Permian in Jamal Formation (Dizlu section).  Based on comprehensive field studies and laboratory investigations three Trilobite specimens were identified in the study area including Pseudophillipsia (Carniphillipsia) dizluensis sp. nov., P...

Alborziphyllinae, A New Late Devonian Rugose Corals Subfamily

Members of the family Laccophyllidae are small, solitary rugose corals with stratigraphic ranges from Silurian to Permian. Among the laccophyllids, axial ends of major septa are united in an aulos and dissepiments may be absent or present. Minor septa can be contratingent and sometimes are small or in some genera are absent. Septa and aulos may be thick or thin. In this study, Famennian rugose...
